focusing on:
i moved house again this month. the day after i left, i got a message from my old local cafe: i've earned a free coffee. a needed reminder that loyalty has no sense of timing and sometimes places remember you after you've already left. as a dear old friend of mine used to say:
"I have no affiliation with this venue."
i saw in the news recently that the venue concerned, a bar and attached hotel, had been 'snapped up' at a 'steal', purchased at a lovely $2.5 million by a real estate minded investor. the man adorned in the fluffy coat behind the bar pretending he didn't own the place actually doesn't own it anymore. the Sydney Morning Herald informs me that the hotel had previously been in his family since 1988.
it's also the first week back at uni. one of my classes is on fascism, which feels like an unusually dramatic way to begin a semester. my other classes are less interesting. i am sure that studying Equity & Trusts will ground me again anyway.
the backyard at the new place is large enough that i am now obligated to garden parts of it i haven't visited yet, which is nice. it is still winter here so mostly i am cold and eating cheese. living in the suburbs again is different from the city. my bedroom might be colder but my heart couldn't be warmer.
i finally fixed the orb! after everything it has been through, hopefully someone is remembering to keep it alive. if it looks funky just reload the page. if you find it dead, please hatch another one. long live the orb 🥹
i want someone to give me dj decks for my birthday. i am unsure if this is a sign of a quarter life crisis or a natural result of living this far north of the Yarra. perhaps every northside resident eventually reaches this same fate. am i just another northside trender? i'll have to pick up that free coffee next time i'm in the cbd. i hope they're still expecting me.
